

Weekend Course - 5 weekends (Saturday and Sunday)
This course takes place over five weekends or on ten individual days with each daily session starting at 9.00 a.m. and finishing at approximately 5.00 p.m. There is a reasonable gap between each session to enable students to carry out home treatments supported by case history notes, and to complete assignments and develop their practical skills. Students will also study Anatomy and Physiology if they do not already hold this qualification. They are able to attend this Diploma course alongside the reflexology course in order to gain the Diploma in Reflexology
Theory:
Techniques of reflexology. Zones and their relation to organs and functions. Philosophy of complementary medicine. An introduction to other natural therapies. The holistic approach.· Contra-indications and possible client/patient reaction to treatment.
Practical:
External reading of the feet. Interpretations of reflexes. Techniques and sequences. The study of common complaints related to reflex areas. Differential diagnosis. The feet; their structure, disorders and condition. Hygiene and sterilisation. Preparation of work place. Consultations and record keeping. Hand reflexology. Presentation and professional image of practitioner. Client care. Professional ethics and code of practice. Practice Management.
Home Study:
Essays and practice treatments supported by documentary evidence, in-depth case histories with reactions and follow up notes to be carried out on at least ten people.
Students who reach the required standard will be submitted for the I.T.E.C. Diploma examination This consits of aa practical exam consisting of a complete reflexology treatment including a consultation. In-depth case histories are to be handed to the tutor for assessment and will be verified by the external examiner. Oral questions will be asked where appropriate.
Successful students will also be eligible for membership of the Association of Reflexologists.
